Si vous me suivez sur Facebook ou sur mon blog, vous avez dû voir beaucoup beaucoup de “teasing” et de “sneak peek” à propos d’une séance que j’ai réalisé il y a 2 semaines à Paris.

Je peux enfin vous révéler les photos de cette séance très spéciale après tant d’attente… et je vous annonce même (avec un petit peu de fierté quand même) que le blog Love and Lavender a décidé de mettre cette séance à l’honneur (un joli “featuring” pourrait-on dire aux States !) : Perfect proposal in Paris

Alors, avant de vous montrer les photos, je dois vous raconter l’histoire de cette séance… une semaine avant le 26 janvier, je reçois un email de Court qui m’explique qu’il est américain et qu’il sera de passage à Paris le 26 janvier et qu’il souhaite demander son amie en mariage ce jour-là ! Je me dis “chouette, une séance d’engagement surprise !”. Mais Court avait une idée bien arrêtée de la manière dont il voulait demander à Stephanie de l’épouser. Il m’a décrit la scène ainsi : ils se promènent dans Paris, et ils rencontrent un portraitiste qui leur propose de faire leur portrait… ils acceptent et quand le dessin est terminé et que le dessinateur leur montre son oeuvre, Stephanie doit découvrir une bague dessinée sur son doigt et c’est là que Court fait sa demande. Et tout ceci photographié par moi, tel un paparrazzi digne de ce nom bien évidement !

D’abord, j’ai commencé à paniquer : comment allais-je trouver un artiste libre en journée sur Paris et qui accepte de se déplacer pour une mission digne de James Bond ? Pour ceux qui me suivent sur Twitter et Facebook, vous n’avez pas dû échapper à mes appels désespérés pour trouver quelqu’un de flexible… bien sûr je pouvais aller à Montmartre et essayer de trouver quelqu’un mais je voulais vraiment une personne qui se déplace jusqu’au lieu que j’avais choisi.

Et par la magie d’Internet, je suis tombée sur le blog d’Emeline, une jeune dessinatrice très talentueuse qui a accepté de jouer le jeu !

Nous voilà donc devant la Pyramide du Louvre le mardi 26 janvier 2010, par un temps que je ne jugerai pas de glacial mais de carrément polaire, en train d’attendre Court et Stephanie pour une séance plus qu’originale…

For my International readers, here’s the story:

I was contacted by Court two weeks ago, he’s from Texas and he wanted me to shoot his proposal to his girlfriend, Stephanie. But he has a very specific idea of how he was going to propose: he wanted to set up a secret photoshoot, and a “random” meeting with an artist who will offer to draw them a portrait. Then, when the artist would show them the portrait, his girlfriend would discover a ring drawn on her hand and would understand what’s going on.
So I found an artist and I organized all the photo session and the meeting.
When the day of the photo session arrived, I was so stressed and anxious. I didn’t want anything to go bad and I didn’t want to ruin his proposal.
But everything was ok: the artist showed up, the couple arrived at the Louvre Pyramid and we started our secret photo session. I was feeling like a paparrazzi!
Stephanie discovered the drawing and when she saw the ring drawn on her hand, she said: “Hey, are you kidding me?” And then, Court made his proposal… this was such a beautiful moment to capture, especially in Paris, in front of the Pyramid of Louvre. This is so romantic! Then, we did a formal photoshoot around Paris, on the Pont des Arts and in front of the Cathedral Notre-Dame-de-Paris. It was very cold this day but I knew Court and Stephanie’s heart was warm and full of love.
I was so happy to capture their engagement, it was so original and beautiful. I hope to do this again for other couples who are visiting Paris because this is a memory that will last forever.

I think she said yes…
